Our technology

Our LED light technology — how Evarin works safely.

At Evarin we use a UV LED light system roughly 100 times gentler than the standard LED lights most Brisbane lash salons run on. It is the reason no one in our studio — client or technician — needs protective eyewear during treatment.

How standard lash salon LED lights work (and why they require eye protection).

Most lash extension adhesives bond fastest under specific UV wavelengths. To deliver that wavelength quickly enough to keep appointments efficient, the majority of salon LED units run at relatively high intensities — bright enough that both client and technician feel uncomfortable if their eyes aren't protected. That's why you'll see goggles, sleep masks, and tinted technician glasses across most lash studios in Brisbane.

It's not a safety failure, it's a trade-off. Higher intensity equals faster cure equals shorter appointments. Eye protection is the compromise that makes the trade-off acceptable.

What makes our LED system different.

Our system uses a tuned UV wavelength specifically engineered for lash adhesive, delivered at roughly 1% of the intensity of standard salon LEDs. The bond strength is the same; the harshness is not. Glue cures cleanly. The light stays soft. Most clients fall asleep during their session because there's nothing aggressive about being underneath it.

We chose the system for one reason: a client who can rest through their appointment leaves with a better experience than a client who can't. The technical specifications followed from that decision, not the other way around.

Why eye protection isn't required during your treatment.

Two things make our setup work without goggles. First, the light intensity is low enough that it doesn't cross the threshold where protective eyewear is recommended. Second, your eyes are closed and covered by under-eye pads for the duration of the appointment, the same as anywhere else — so even ambient exposure is minimal.

Our technicians don't wear protective glasses either. That's the simplest signal we can give you: if it were harsh enough that we'd want eye protection ourselves, we wouldn't ask you to lie under it.

What this means for your eye health.

For most clients, the practical difference is comfort. Less glare. Less eye fatigue post-appointment. No squinting through a recovery period after sitting under bright lights for an hour and a half.

For clients with sensitive eyes, recent surgery, dry-eye syndrome, or pregnancy, the difference is more material. Lower-intensity systems reduce the variables that can cause irritation. If you've avoided lash extensions because of eye sensitivity, the gentler LED is often the missing piece.

It also matters for long-term wear. Clients who book lash refills every three weeks for years are accumulating LED exposure over time. Our system keeps that accumulated exposure to a minimum.

Frequently asked

Frequently asked questions about our LED system.

Yes. Our LED light is a low-intensity UV LED designed for lash adhesive curing, not the broad-spectrum UV used in nail salons. It does not penetrate skin or reach the body in any meaningful way. Many of our regular clients book through pregnancy. If you have a specific concern, mention it at booking and we'll adjust accordingly.

Please wait until your treating doctor clears you for eye-area treatments. Most ophthalmologists recommend waiting at least 4-6 weeks after LASIK or cataract surgery, and longer after corneal procedures. We'll happily hold your appointment until you have written clearance.

No. Our LED system runs at roughly 1% of the intensity of the LED units most lash salons use. Your eyes are closed and protected by under-eye pads during the entire session. Neither client nor technician needs protective eyewear during treatment.

Our LED uses a tuned UV wavelength specifically calibrated for lash adhesive — strong enough to bond glue cleanly for 3-5 weeks of wear (subject to your natural lash cycle and lifestyle), gentle enough to avoid the eye and skin irritation that higher-intensity UV systems often cause. We chose the system because it gives the bond strength of UV curing without the harshness.

Standard salon LED systems run at a much higher intensity than ours. At that intensity, prolonged exposure can cause eye fatigue and, in some clients, discomfort or temporary glare. Protective eyewear is a sensible precaution at those levels. Our system runs gentle enough that the precaution isn't necessary.
